Good work Deano! I've been watching the playoff victories off-and-on since the dust settles and right now I'm at the midway point of game 3 of the SCF. I've tried to watch the little plays that happen on-camera and have found myself skipping back to watch a board battle, or the way a King player attacks on the forecheck or engages an opponent on the wall, stuff like that, and DKing does do a lot of little things right a lot of the time. His offense is a bonus. For the comps you posted, I like the investment.

I can see Nolan, Clifford, Reggie, and possibly Williams (although it would sadden me) not be resigned after next season. And some of the kids getting a 2-3 year "bridge" deal after their ELC are up... interesting times ahead but In Dean I Trust.

Yeah, looks like you guys will be getting the Boston experience next summer. Believe me, its much much easier to just trust your GM (easy to do when you've got an elite GM like dean or PC) than to question every single move like some of the fickle fans I deal with. Wont be easy but I'm sure that squad will stay on top for years to come

i've heard it said that Andreoff has the virtually the same skill set as a Nolan/Cliffy, why not move them both while they might have any kind of value (even if it's draft picks) and play someone that's ready to come in and fill a bottom 6 for peanuts? And willy might want to be paid, since this would probably be his last contract. 5-6 years somewhere else for a lot more money than the Kings can offer would lure him away, IMO. It would be great if he'd stay, but I just don't see him playing out that way... I'll take being wrong about it in a heartbeat, though.

Of course Dean's dialing in the young guys, but this one is going to hurt. I would have rather seen Vey stay and Stoll walk next year, but I don't see how we retain Williams now. Not without another big/surprise move this year (dare I say Brown, Richards?)

After what Stoll has shown in the PO's the last 3 postseasons, I can't imagine him not being here, especially when you're thinking Vey would've supplied anything that Stoll would've vacated. In the 3C role? IMO Stoll = Brown come playoff time. Big time faceoff guy and takes the body like few of our other forwards do (often time borderline, too, but that element is needed). I think, if anyone, Stoll stays for a paycut. He got over paid in the current contract, and with his new wifey, I'd see him taking a little cut to stay in LA and retire a King in 3-5 years...

That $16.6M is more likely to be around $20M with the cap likely to increase. I also think we will see Williams sign a Gaborik like deal where the cap hit is lowered with more money front loaded. Unless Toffoli and Pearson put up 20 goals I also don't see them getting too much of a raise and likely a two year bridge contract

Regehr is likely not brought back and I think one of Clifford or King is traded.

I would like to see Andreoff brought up in place of Nolan. Not sure what to do with Clifford, if anything trade him at draft for a 3rd or something in that range. If LA can get more for him, Great

This is the general consensus but who knows how much it will go up or if it will. All signs point to yes but who knows.

Even so, at 20 mil and 11 players...maybe 23 and 10 with Regehr coming off the book...that's an average of 2.3 per player. That would be a pay cut for Williams and Stoll, and Pearson, Toffoli, Muzzin and Martinez are all looking at raises. Not impossible, but it will be tight.

Not to mention you have Kopitar and his cushy 6.8 coming up the following season.

Bring up mcnabb(650,000)to replace Regehr . Sign muzzin and Martinez to identical contracts around $2.5m to $3m or so per yr (meet in the middle 2.75)??Maybe sign williams and Stoll to similar contracts as well maybe $3m each? Pearson $2.5/3m? Toffoli $2m range?.... Taking wild guesses but this is 14,650,000 maybe add a good 4 to 5 mil?? So all in all maybe looking at 17mil-19mil??

This is what will cause every Kings fan to panic if he starts the 15/16 season with no extension. Next summer is going to be interesting.

Bergy... He's 2C now with Krejci 1C

Either way it's 2 first line C playing on the same team

Not that it would EVER happen as LA will lock him up to Toews/Kane type deal

Not to bash in on your session here, but a PAY CUT? Huh? Stoll is a beast L3-C...the cap is going up and he does so many of the little things that helped LA win the Cup. Asking him to take a pay cut isn't cool and it's not logical. Would he give a hometown discount? Perhaps, but for a guy like that who brings his lunch pale and lays it on the line day in, day out, shift in and shift out it's not warranted to ask him to take less. If the Kings get into a cap crunch over him, then you guys (like another team) will have to make some tough choices. Players are not in the business to take less...their careers are not that long, injury is always right around the corner, he has to take care of his family.

Sure, you have 'better stars'...DD, Kopy, some of those young kids...but you win Cups with guys like Stoll. YOU HAVE TO HAVE a Jarret Stoll.

He only played around 30 games and they were in the first half of the season. He was then put on waivers and sent to Manchester so I don't think the Kings had any plans to keep him once his contact is up.

Agreed.

Stoll is the perfect 3rd line C. His production has gone down in the past couple of seasons but that doesn't take away from everything else he brings to the team.
If the Kings had plans to get rid of Stoll then they wouldn't have let Vey go.

Doesn't a hometown discount equate to a pay cut? Simply stating that his next contract will probably have a more CAP friendly hit if he were to stay with the team...

i thought we had that 1c/2c scenario with mike richards...at least carter has effectively taken over that spot. need the beefier centers to wage wars in the western conference.

anze is going to get the brinks truck, but i think he'll take some level of hometown discount.

Not a bad contract at all. From what I've seen he's a good two way player with an NHL sized body. Still growing, too. That's nothing to scoff at.
